Miao
Embroidery and designs of Miao people
The Miao people are a minority ethnic group in Guizhou Province, China. The Miao people have no written language. They use ballads to tell the stories of their people and embroidery to depict gods and daily life.
Their embroidery is famous for its artistry and exquisite craftsmanship. From growing cotton and linen, spinning yarn to decoration, it usually takes several years to make a piece of clothing.
Exquisite embroidery is not used by royal nobles, but by ordinary people, and also as amulets to protect their loved ones. This book shows the production skills and artistic connotations of Miao embroidery in detail with pictures and texts.
