    The Huichols are an indigenous tribe living in the Sierra Madre Region of Western Mexico. For thousands of years, the Huichol follows the ways of living from their pre-columbian ancestors. Peyote, an entheogenic cactus, has been playing a crucial element in their religious practices.

    Their religion consists of four principal deities: the trinity of Corn, Blue Deer,  Peyote, and the Eagle, all descended from their Sun God, "Tao Jreeku" Most Huichols retain traditional beliefs are resistant to change. The annual peyote hunt in their sacred land -Wiriknta is the most important ritual for the Huichols. They collect holy water and the peyote cactus. They are using the cactus as an entheogen, by going through the spiritual journey. The Huichols cleanse their body and soul. Connect their spirits with nature as well as the fellow Huichols.

     The Huichols did not have written languages. Therefore they create unique yarn art and beads art as the medium to record their daily life and pass on their myths and traditions. Especially the visions they experienced in the peyote rituals. Artisans usually use resin or beeswax to twine and stick colorful yarn thread on a wood board piece, creating intricate patterns and symbols with dazzling and vibrant colors, which makes the Huichols yarn arts illustrious among ethnology lover and folk art collectors around the globe.

    𓊑維曹族紗線畫𓊑

      生活在墨西哥西部馬德雷山的維曹族人（Huichol)，是一群承傳著數千年古老傳統生活的原住民。過去數千年來，維曹族人的宗教及文化習俗，一直以一種名為烏羽玉的可致幻仙人掌為中心。

      族人每年都會長途跋涉，徒步約三百多公里。進入祖靈居住的聖地Wiriknta，這裏同時為烏羽玉的主要產地。族人會在此收集聖水及烏羽玉並進行儀式。儀式具有懺悔淨心、治療疾病、占卜預言及與祖先以至和大自然連接等諸種作用。同時也維繫着族人之間的文化傳承。

      維曹族人沒有文字，取而代之的是他們會利用紗線畫（Yarn Painting)和串珠藝術（Bead Art)來紀錄和傳承神話、生活及烏羽玉儀式的見聞。工匠會用蜂蠟或樹脂把不同顏色的紗線黏貼在木板上作畫。紗線畫以其鮮艶明亮的顏色及豐富的符號圖像聞名。其別樹一格的技巧與風格，一直受民俗學及原住民文化愛好者所青睞。
